Johnson Memorial Health (JMH) celebrated the opening of a new behavioral health care center on their main hospital campus in Franklin with a ribbon cutting ceremony on January 15th.
This state-of-the-art 29-bed inpatient facility provides vital mental health services to adults 18 and older, addressing a critical and growing need in Johnson and surrounding counties. In fact, this will be only the second nonprofit inpatient behavioral health facility in the entire county.
The Behavioral Health Center is the result of a unique partnership between JMH, Johnson County Commissioners and law enforcement officials. Funding, in part, for the new facility, was made possible by the Johnson County ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) committee.
The center provides individualized treatment for adults experiencing a psychiatric crisis or at risk of causing harm. In partnership with Horizon Health Services, the facility staff include psychiatric specialists, behavioral health care providers, registered nurses, recreational therapists and social workers. Treatment plans include multidisciplinary and holistic methods such as group therapy, psychoeducation, family education and counseling, discharge planning and crisis safety. Sophisticated security systems and reduced-ligature furniture provide a safe environment for patient care.
This facility is a critical addition to the behavioral health infrastructure for Johnson County and for the state of Indiana.
