Clinical Integration

Suburban Health Organization (SHO) Clinical Integration comprises all opportunities for increased clinical alignment, whether through affinity group collaboration, education standardization, group contracting, regional provider tools, or tools for regulatory compliance. These programs promote a culture of patient safety, sustained clinical quality, and collaborative best practice. Some of these services include:

Clinical Affinity Groups serve as forums to facilitate problem-solving, share best practices, improve quality and patient safety, reduce expenses, and/or streamline operations. Hospital members contribute their expertise in collaboration with SHO staff to overcome common challenges. Learn more about these collaborations by following the links below:

The SHO-established Patient Safety Coalition is managed through the Clinical Excellence Council, in partnership with Indiana Hospital Association Coalition for Care campaigns. It leads quality and safety initiatives through education, resource sharing, and collaboration to implement evidence-based practices. Additionally, SHO is a member of the Indianapolis Coalition for Patient Safety, allowing collaboration clinically and regionally, while eliminating chances for duplicate initiatives.

The facilitation of External Peer Review provides and opportunity for the SHO hospitals to obtain peer review services as required by their internal policies and procedures, medical staff bylaws, or as necessary to ensure the quality of medical care.

SHO's Financial Integration Model was developed as an instrument for participating SHO hospitals to share risk under the Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield agreement. The program measures hospital performance in relation to national thresholds for patient safety, health outcomes, and satisfaction for continuous quality improvement.

Quality Scorecards present internal and external benchmark comparisons for monitoring programs, such as :

  • Anthem Quality-in-Sights
  • Medicare
  • Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality: Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS)
