SHO Hospitals Complete Federal Grant Registration!

SHO worked with Hancock Regional Hospital, Hendricks Regional Health, Henry County Hospital, Morgan Hospital and Medical Center, Riverview Hospital, Westview Medical Campus, and Witham Health Services as they completed the registration process to seek funding through federal grants. By the end of 2009, all seven had completed the registration process. In a competitive grant environment and with potential stimulus funds available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, federal registration is particularly important.

Throughout 2009, the SHO hospitals worked to complete the federal registration process. As part of this process Kristi Rees, SHO’s Grants Coordinator, and Rebecca Salley, SHO’s Shared Services Coordinator, worked with the individuals responsible for completing the federal registration. SHO provided education, guidance documents and support, in addition to utilizing the SHO Grants Portal to disseminate those documents and to share best practices throughout the process.

The federal registration process is made up of three steps, with clearance needed at each step to proceed. The grants.gov website lays out an estimated timeline for each step, though most often it takes longer than the time listed. It takes several months to complete the registration and involves a coordinated effort among various departments to locate the necessary documentation.

Additional information about the SHO Grant Writing service is available on the SHO website as well as within the SHO grants portal.
