Margaret Mary Health Launches New School-Based Telehealth Services with SHO’s myVirtualHealthVisit

On August 1, Margaret Mary Health launched a new telehealth service for South Ripley Schools that connects the school nurse with a pediatrician at the hospital to diagnose and treat minor injuries and acute illnesses. Parents are also able to join the video visits remotely without leaving work.

This application of myVirtualHealthVisit, SHO’s telehealth platform implemented in 2017 as part of a group purchase with American Well, represents the first in which SHO hospital providers are utilizing the platform to see patients in their own community.  To date, nearly 400 urgent care visits have occurred that have utilized American Well’s Online Care Group.

Multiple discussions are under way among SHO hospitals regarding additional new use cases including: adding online video visit capability to SHO urgent care providers, providing follow-up video visits with existing primary care patients, supplementing employer relationships with online and kiosk-based virtual visits, utilizing in skilled nursing facilities, and exploring behavioral health applications.

SHO hospitals participating in myVIrtualHealthVisit include: Hancock Health, Hendricks Regional Health, Henry Community Health, Johnson Memorial Health, Major Health Partners, Margaret Mary Health, Riverview Health, Rush Memorial Hospital, and Witham Health Services.
